Another thought would be to have the plot-range:max adjust auto-magically (ie: via a ticking script) based on the max bar value. Also it would be good to get the kids to take snap shots over time. I was watching and 2 went from last place to first. Some ways to do this would be have them start and pause the roll every N seconds. Perhaps getting them in the habit of taking a "picture of the graph" they could use the grab tool. Or set the tick rate really high and run in N run increments. Or better yet, pose the question to the kids and let them figure out the best way to do it.
Randy many thanks for posting this so those of us who aren't familiar with the smalltalk tools can get a look at some of the GSoC work of Richo and play with Hilaire's Artifacts. Another idea would be to show two die and run the simulation. Also you could ask the kids some questions to get them thinking about which numbers they predict will come up the most. Then after they run the simulation some questions to get them thinking about how they can use this information in some of the games they play. I do this with my kids and backgammon. Also you can simplify the script Die-roll by setting "bar index" to "Die's number"
